Stairs & slopes

  1. To measure the slope of the stairs
  2. Lay a straight edge down the nosing of the stairs
  3. Hold the long side of a framing square short side down
  4. Set a level on the top edge of the square
  5. Set Square on strait edge with one edge fixed the other adjust to level
  6. Only read the #s on the inside of the square
  7. The fixed side will either be 22 ½ or 14”
  8. Include ntn [nose to nose] measurement
  9. Rise & run
  10. Surface mount or face mount
  11. Open side or closed
  12. If closed is it flush with the nosing or raised if so by how much
